Basic but clean. Stayed for 4 nights as a family of 4. On arrival at 5. We had to make our own beds up on arrival which we weren't expecting, apartment was meant to sleep 5 and there was a pull out bed under the sofa bed but no real space for it to have gone in. Kitchen facilities were limited to a hob, fridge, kettle, toaster and dishwasher. Handy for the bus stop on the road outside the hotel for buses into Nice and Monaco, essential if not driving.
Info prior to arrival suggested the pool was only open from May to Sept but it was still being used late October. It was clean and a handy base to use but I think we would look at somewhere more central in future as became heavily dependent on public transport which was limited when returning from dining out in Nice of an evening. We stayed at the accommodation for 4 nights with 3 young children. I received lots of digital communication with good instructions before arriving.
A member of the Residence actually gave us a call about 5 days before arriving to ask if we had any needs and also to confirm we were still travelling. The apartment itself is situated in a quiet location and is equipped with all the basic necessities to make you feel at home.
The only negative if you can be really bothered is the lack of ventilation which makes condensation quite bad when you wake up in the mornings or when you cook. The receptionist could also have informed us of the sports facilities and the fact that the beach was just behind the car park, down a few steps. We found this by accident about two days before our departure.
Overall, it was a very pleasant stay and we will use it again when we visit Nice in the future. Date of stay: January Value. Chris P wrote a review Nov Devon, United Kingdom 11 contributions 2 helpful votes. Where the Alps meet the Mediterranean.
Probably only one seaside town in the south of France looks the way that you think it should, and that is Villefranche-sur-Mer. The geography of the region means that the road and the railway run between the hillside and the sea, so don't be surprised if you hear cars or trains at night. The railway station and the town are a minute walk away, and the beach is closer.
Be prepared to walk along the beach to get to the restaurants that's not a hardship! This is the real South of France where the local families go to the beach: if you want somewhere snooty, go to Cannes or Nice. When you get home, take a look at all of the great films that include Villefranche-sur-Mer - you'll understand why! Date of stay: October Value. Room Tip: Go for a bigger apartment than the minimum that you need - having a bit more space makes a big Bennyboy08 wrote a review Sep Loughton, United Kingdom 53 contributions 50 helpful votes.
Could be made so much better. Stayed here for a long weekend with a friend as we explored the area and went into Italy. Actually changed our booking from a hotel in Antibes due to it being in a better location nearer a beach. But I felt when I arrived that I had been duped by doctored photos. Also this place cost slightly more than where I originally booked. Lovely location. Nice looking grounds. The staff were actually mice and friendly. I speak French so had no problems.
Basically this was the woman on reception and the two men running the poolside bar. Did not see anyone else. However, the hotel building is very dated when you get up close. Very 80s France. Clearly no updates or renovation done for a few decades. Even a 90s France Telecom payphone is on one floor. Sueprised they did not have a Minitel station!! The room was nothing like the photos I saw online. I had the impression that the room I had booked which holds 5 people despite only 2 of us would be roomy. Not at all. It was tiny and narrow. You opened the door and were met with bunkbeds literally right there!
Narrow prison cell type bunks. You have to make your own beds up with the linen provided.
